Brendon's Story

September 24, 2006

Hi I’m Brendon and I’m a drummer.

On March 1, 2004 my mom and I found out that I have Juvenile Diabetes.  At first we were afraid but many people helped us. I used to have to take a lot of shots but now I have my handy dandy pump. I like it because it makes me look cool.  Most people think that it’s a cell phone.  Sometimes I get upset because I don’t want to check my levels but my mom always tells me that I am blessed to have medicine and to keep on going.  While insulin helps me today, I keep praying for a cure, which I know will be found during my lifetime. I am proud to say that I have learned to march to the beat of a different drum!

Thank you,

Brendon Chase Ogunnaike

Walmart Days

In an effort to raise money for Juvenile Diabetes Research our team, Brendon's Beat, would go to Walmart and distribute literature while collecting donations. This is always very hard work however; the benefits are priceless!
